For many years Alex Jones positioned himself against both the Democrats and Republicans. I’m not sure if he thought this made him unique or if he just enjoyed the fact you get twice the content this way. This came to an end, slowly but surely, after Trump got the Republican nomination in 2016.
Alex wasn’t an unknown person by any means but 2016 is the year he finally got a taste of mainstream attention. For two reasons: Roger Stone and Joe Rogan.
First, let’s look at why Alex Jones attached himself to the hip of the MAGA movement. Roger Stone worked with many Republican campaigns since the 1970s, including Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and briefly Donald Trump. He’s a political trickster nobody seems to like but someone always finds a use for him. What you’ll see next is not an AI created image and while the image is a bit blurry, your eyes do not deceive you. Roger Stone actually does have a tattoo of Richard Nixon on his back.

Anyway, I’m not sure when Roger Stone first became affiliated with Alex Jones and InfoWars, but the earliest I recall is around 2015. He became much more than a guest and would often host his own segment during the afternoon. Roger worked on Trump’s campaign briefly in 2015 but more importantly, he was a lobbyist for Trump’s casinos and associate for many decades. Roger was a connection straight to Donald Trump and soon after, Alex landed the big interview. Alex was so excited he couldn’t stand it and at some point was shouting he and all of the InfoWars listeners are huge fans. That’s when Trump hit him with the, “Your reputation is amazing. I will not let you down.”
I think Alex believed him.
